Can You Speak More Than One Language

I can't speak more than one language. I have attempted to learn German and Spanish. I took German for one year in high school and Spanish for two. I actually know more German than I do Spanish. I try really hard to learn languages but I am really not good at it. However, I am determined to learn Spanish before I'm 50! That is my goal. I would really like to be able to speak Spanish.

So can you speak more than one language?

I used to be able to do sign language, but I'm really bad at it now. Chel can speak a little spanish, but used to be better at that, too. I know, we're lame. :)

I'm in the same boat as you. I can't speak any language but my own. (3 guesses as to what that is, eh?)

I took 9 years of Spanish... and I've forgotten all nine years of it! (Well... thats not entirely true... I still remember useless things I learned 4th grades, such as colors or "Where is the Library?" Why the hell is that the first thing they teach you how to say when a room full of Spanish filled books is something a non-Spanish speaking person has any use for?)

I also took up Japanese in college... something that I'm already loosing... RAPIDLY!!! Nihonn go wo renshu suru hitsuyou ga arimasu. -_-'

I speak a little bit English - well, I'm trying to improve, but I can survive...;-))
And I had 5 years French at school. I can order breakfast, say hello, ask some questions and I remember cusses like "trou du cul".

I grew up in New Zealand, and the native Maori language was taught at school as a second language. When we learnt a new word, we learnt the Maori word for it too.
However, I've lived in Australia since i was 16 [20 years] and allthough i can teach my kids some Maori words, i have forgotten most of it. A shame aye? :o/

French was my first language, I learned English pretty early on, and then Spanish. I'd like to learn German, I found that to be pretty tough...

I feel your pain, growing up speaking two different languages makes it soooo much easier to learn others.

it's kinda strange to know that there are so many "americans" who can only speak their own language. i'm from germany and i know 4 different languages. and not just a bit. i know english, dutch, french and latin. well i dont really need latin but its cool to impress people with it ;)

hi friend, i think each of us has to speak more than two langueges, the mother languege, the english and the french or spanish or italian languege, because these days we can find more interesting news or movies in these langueges, onother thing is that u will travel easily any way you want :)
